This seminar will contribute to rethinking the concept of radicalization from the perspective of youth mobilization. Drawing on ethnographic material from the Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal and Kenya the presenters will explore organizations and ideologies that implicate young people in violence and how young people in turn negotiate organizations and ideologies with a firm look to their future identitary and material survival. The work presented at this seminar is part of the research programme “The violent organization of political youth,” ran by Steffen Jensen (RCT) and Henrik Vigh (Copenhagen University).
