The Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new ‘CIPS Research Initiative (CRI)’ competition.  Independent from the CIPS Research Networks, the CRIs are intended to spur new collaborations and outputs. We encourage innovative, cutting-edge proposals on contemporary challenges in international affairs, designed to contribute to on-going scholarly and/or policy debates. One proposal will be funded up to a maximum of $10,000. Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to, workshops at CIPS and research assistance. Awarded funds can be used over a period of two to three years. Possible research outputs include Special Issues of journals, edited collections, or policy reports. With the objective of fostering new collaborations and projects within CIPS, the participation of a minimum of two (2) CIPS members is required. Applications that include more than two CIPS members are particularly welcome.  Additional participants, such as non-CIPS members at the University of Ottawa and/or from international researchers or researchers at other Canadian universities, are also welcome.

Proposals should be maximum four pages long and should include the following information:

  1. A clear statement of the research topic (max. two (2) pages)
  2. A clear outline of the expected outcomes and publication plan (max. two (2) pages)
  3. A list of CIPS members involved, their CVs (OPVI format), and their role in the project (minimum two (2) CIPS members)
  4. A list of non-CIPS members involved and their role in the project
  5. A detailed budget for the duration of the CRI (maximum tenure of the grant is three years).
