ITF Enhancing Human Security (ITF) is a humanitarian, non-profit organization established by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia in 1998 with the initial purpose to help Bosnia and Herzegovina in the implementation of the peace agreement and to provide assistance and support in post-conflict rehabilitation. Since its inception, ITF has been continuously developing and enhancing its mission, thus expanding the scope of its activities and geographic area of their implementation in order to address the problems of ever changing human security environment, the needs of beneficiary countries and the priorities of donor community. The 2015–2020 ITF strategy has been introduced to recognize and implement the unique advantages, capabilities and experience of ITF across the spectrum of post-conflict recovery (including but not limited to humanitarian mine action and conventional weapons destruction (CWD)). Humanitarian mine action and other forms of post-conflict assistance are proven contributors to human security and development. Canada was an active partner of ITF projects since very beginning and is the fourth main donor.

Damjan Bergant is Director ITF Enhancing Human Security since 2014. Previously, he was Ambassador of Slovenia to the Council of Europe and Member of the Governing Board of the Council of Europe Development Bank (2010-2014). He also occupied various directing roles, including Head of the Task Force for the Slovenian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (2009) and Chairperson of the Working Party of the Council of the European Union for the OSCE and the Council of Europe (COSCE) (2008).
