Thomas Gregory is Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. His publications include Weaponizing Civilian Protection: Counterinsurgency and Collateral Damage in Afghanistan, which examines coalition moves to reframe civilian casualties as strategic setbacks during the recent conflict in Afghanistan, and how this work to rationalize the harm inflicted upon Afghan civilians. He also co-edited the new edition of Global Politics: A New Introduction with Jenny Edkins and Maja Zehfuss and Emotions, Politics and War with Linda Åhäll. His articles have appeared in leading international journals, including Security Dialogue, European Journal of International RelationsInternational Political Sociology and Review of International Studies. Tom is also a co-editor of the Gender, Sexuality and Global Politics series at Bristol University Press and an Associate Editor at Critical Studies on Security.
