Presented by OPSA and CIPS
This conference will see experts from the Arctic region analyze the salient developments that occurred in the Arctic region in 2022. In addition, there will be a look ahead to the new year in order to anticipate the debates and tensions to come in the coming months.
The presenters are contributors to the Observatoire de la politique et la sécurité de l’Arctique (OPSA)’s annual Arctic Year review. Beyond the alarmist rhetoric and anxious predictions, experts explain and frame the changes affecting this region to better understand the nature of the Arctic’s evolution.
In 2022, the Arctic sub-regions have suffered, like many other regions in the world, the consequences of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, on the one hand, and those of climate change, on the other. The conference will explain how these major upheavals affect connectivity, the exploitation of natural resources, and human security, to name a few topics.
The majority of the event will be held in French. Participants will be able to take questions in French and English. Times are Eastern Time (Ottawa).
