Peggy Hicks, global advocacy director at Human Rights Watch, has expertise on the United Nations, particularly UN peacekeeping, and the Balkans. She is responsible for coordinating Human Rights Watch’s advocacy team and providing direction to advocacy worldwide. Before joining Human Rights Watch in 2005, Ms. Hicks served as director of the Office for Returns and Communications in the UN mission in Kosovo. She has also worked for the International Human Rights Law Group (now Global Rights), the Deputy High Representative for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the former Yugoslavia, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and as clinical professor of human rights and refugee law at the University of Minnesota Law School.
