Jeremy I. Levitt is Associate Dean for International Programs and Distinguished Professor of International Law at Florida A&M University College of Law. A public international lawyer and political scientist with expertise in the law of the use of force, human rights law, African politics, democratization, state dynamics and regional collective security, Professor Levitt is the author or editor of four books and numerous law review articles. Prior to entering law teaching, he served as Special Assistant to the Managing Director for Global Human and Social Development at the World Bank Group. He was recently appointed as senior member of the International Technical Assistance Committee (ITAC) of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Liberia by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the President of the Republic of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Africa’s first democratically-elected female head of state.
