Multilateralism remains the most practical and realistic means of dealing with the economic uncertainty, poverty and unemployment, crime and violence and the rising cost of living affect the peace, stability, development and democracy of all countries in this hemisphere. Yet, for multilateralism to work, all countries – small or large, rich or poor, powerful or without resources- must be involved in decision making processes.
Albert R. Ramdin has served as Assistant Secretary General of the Organisation of American States since 2005. The Surinamese diplomat has had a distinguished career serving before as Ambassador at Large and Special Adviser to the Government of the Republic of Suriname on Western Hemispheric Affairs. He has also served as the Assistant Secretary-General for Foreign and Community Relations for the CARICOM Secretariat.
