Mohamed Lotfy is a researcher in the Middle East and North Africa team of Amnesty International (AI), International Secretariat. Mohamed has led AI research on the uprising in Egypt, spending more than 6 months there since January 2011, and later documented violations by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces. He also conducted meetings with each political party in Egypt on behalf of AI to try to obtain their commitment on human rights protection and promotion. He recently went to Tunisia to launch with AI Tunisia the MENA report on developments in the region in 2011. Before joining AI, he has worked at the World Organization Against Torture, the International Commission of Jurists, and the International Organization for Migrations.
