Dr. Keith Martin has served as an MP since 1993, holding many posts including Parliamentary Secretary for National Defence and shadow ministerial portfolios in foreign affairs, international development, and health. He has also worked as a physician in South Africa and on African conservation projects that link environmental stewardship with human security. Using his medical background, Dr. Martin developed the Center for International Health and Development Initiative (CIHD) to link universities in North America with institutions in developing countries. He also created the Canadian Physicians Overseas Program (CPOP) that uses Canadian medical expertise to build capacity in developing countries.
