The world is dealing with the largest number of global refugees since the Second World War. Asylum seekers arriving at shorelines and borders – at times in considerable distress – must be dealt with in a way that respects their humanity. This roundtable will share the challenges and achievements of community leaders from Canada, United States, Lebanon and Australia who are working to shift the public conversation from one of deterrence and fear to welcome and inclusion.
This event is taking place as part of the proceedings for the inaugural Global Pluralism Award, a program of the Global Centre for Pluralism that recognizes remarkable and sustained achievements to promote more inclusive societies.
David Lubell, CEO of Welcoming America, USA (Honorable mention recipient, Global Pluralism Award)
