Call for Papers

CIPSS/CIPS Graduate Student Conference

Theme: “International Security”
Submission deadline: March 17, 2017
Submissions may be sent to: [email protected]

This year’s edition seeks to explore the following theme: “International Security”. While this theme may be interpreted in many ways, we want to focus on current strategic shifts and trends in the global landscape. For example, your submission may address:

  1. the emergence of non-state actors;
  2. the changes in domestic and international terrorism;
  3. the conditions or environments within which new strategic actors operate;
  4. emerging security challenges, such as radicalization and migration;
  5. new forms of crisis and conflict, including cyber warfare;
  6. conflict regions, etc.

The above list of topics is provided for guidance and is not meant to be exhaustive.

All submissions will be evaluated for originality, policy relevance, rigour, and depth. Essentially, we are seeking creative submissions that will critically contribute to the disciplines of Public and International Affairs. In keeping with the interdisciplinary nature of the journal, we encourage the submission of papers from a wide range of disciplines including but not limited to business, criminology, economics, geography, history, law, political science, sociology, and women’s studies. Students from both master’s and doctorate programs are encouraged to apply. Submissions can be in either English or French.

Guidelines for submissions: Three types of submissions will be accepted: Research articles (should not exceed 8,000 words in length, including endnotes and bibliography), book reviews (800-1,000 words), and policy briefs (should not exceed 1,500 words). Submissions must include 100 to 200-word abstract, keywords, and a 100-word biography. Citations must follow the APA style.
